Aug 01, 2018 (newstodate): Nordica is playing down any connection between the stepping down of its Chairman of the Board and discussions with LOT.
-Mr Tamm made his decision to resign for personal reasons after three years in the chair, and despite much media fuss about a connection to a recent meeting with LOT's CEO I can only repeat that there is absolutely no relation between these two issues, says Sven Kukemelk, Nordica Exec Director Business Development.
-Nordica's contract with LOT is still running over the next four years and the close cooperation constitutes the basis for our daily work. Hi-level meetings between Nordica and LOT are part of this, and as the world changes there will always be issues to be discussed and solved.
-The strategy for Nordica thus remains unchanged, and I would as earlier stated be surprised if we do not open up a new operational base outside Estonia before the end of this year. At the same time there are no plans for adding more aircraft capacity to Regional Jet under the current budget restraints, says Mr Kukemelk.
Set up in the aftermath of the demise of Estonian Air, Nordic Aviation, later renamed Nordica, performed its first flight on November 8, 2015, with aircraft operated by Adria Airways in cooperation with BMI, Trade Air, NextJet and Carpatair.
Starting out with six aircraft, Nordica's fleet now comprises six ATR 72-600, two Bombardier CRJ700 and 10 Bombardier CRJ900 in addition to the capacity of one bmi aircraft.
