Aug 07, 2018 (newstodate): A massive explosion releasing an energy of some 2.1 kiloton hit the airspace over the US Air Force radar base at Thule, in Greenland.
The explosion occurred on July 25, 2018, over the missile early warning radar at Thule Air Base - but at a height of 43.3 km according to US Government sensors.
The information has not been reported by any official US Air Force media but was published on a twitter account belonging to the Director of the Nuclear Information Project for the Federation of American Scientists, Hans Kristensen.
And it was not a Russian first strike on the installations - but a meteor from outer space.
Thule, under Peterson Air Force Base's 21st Space Wing, 821st Air Base Group, operates and maintains missile warning and space surveillance systems and conducts satellite command-and-control operations missions.
