Aug 21, 2018 (newstodate): Lithuania's Palanga Airport vehemently refutes reports that passenger and flight volumes in 2018 are stagnating, or even in decline.
-On the contrary, Palanga Airport's passenger growth is seven percent to 144,000, and the number of flights grew by eight percent to 2,163 in the first half of 2018, says Agne Mazeikyte, Palanga Airport Communication Project Manager.
-In 2017, the airport handled 297,000 passengers and 4,500 flights, and in 2016 volumes were 232,000 passengers and close 4,000 flights, so the growth is steady.
-At the moment, Palanga Airport has five your-round routes including SAS to Copenhagen, Norwegian to Oslo, airBaltic to Riga, Wizz Air to London Luton, and Ryanair to London Stansted.
-In this summer schedule, airBaltic added more flights to the route to Riga, now totaling 14 weekly rotations, and LOT added flights to Warsaw, Ryanair added flights to Glasgow, Belavia has been operating flights to Minsk, and Rusline has been offering flights to Moscow.
-Summing it up, Palanga Airport is Lithuania's smallest international airport, but showing a sustained positive growth in passenger and flight volumes as well as in connectivity, says Ms Mazeikyte.
