Aug 03, 2018 (newstodate): The Portuguese capacity provider Hi-Fly rightly saw a market for introducing the Airbus 380 aircraft in the charter market.
The carrier's A380 thus made its debut in the charter market when Thomas Cook chartered the aircraft for carrying passengers between Copenhagen and Larnaca, on Cyprus, on August 2, 2018, and between Oslo and Palma de Mallorca the day after.
Already starting from today and until August 12, 2018, the aircraft will be serving with Norwegian, operating one of the carrier's two daily rotations on the route between London Gatwick and New York JFK.
Now Air Austral has chartered the aircraft to operate for three weeks on its core route between La Reunion and Paris starting from August 24, 2018, to cover up for engine problems on one of its Boeing 787 aircraft.
Hi-Fly has become the fourteenth airline in the world and the 4th European carrier to operate the A380 since it entered service with Singapore Airlines in 2007, joining Lufthansa, Air France, and British Airways.
The carrier is now considering options for adding more Airbus A380 aircraft to its fleet as second-hand aircraft become available in the market.
