Aug 29, 2018 (newstodate): Already strong on the Europe-Asia air lanes, Finnair is to grow its traffic again in the summer 2019 schedule.
According to Finnish media, Finnair will increase flights on the route to Osaka from seven to 10 weekly flights, flights to Tokyo will go up from 14 to 21 weekly rotations during the golden Week, and flights to Hong Kong will be increased from 10 to 14 weekly rotations.
Also from summer 2019, Finnair will replace the Airbus A330 currently used on routes to Nagoya and Guangzhou with Airbus A350 offering more seats on the flights.
The carrier's capacity on flights to Japan will thus increase by 15 percent, y-o-y, during the S'19 schedule, and capacity on flights to China will grow by 12 percent.
Finnair is today operating up to 76 flights through the Siberian air corridors under the summer schedule, with about 10 flights less during the winter schedule.
This is, however, close to the agreed ceiling allowing for a maximum of 80 flights.
Finnair therefore hopes to negotiate an increase in overflight rights during the next round of aviation talks with Russia, scheduled for later in 2018 or early 2019.
