Aug 27, 2018 (newstodate): The Danish aircraft lessor Nordic Aviation Capital has now completed deliveries of a batch of Embraer E190 to its new CIS customer, Azerbaijan Airlines.
This rounds off an order for lease of six aircraft signed in 2017, and the aircraft have been placed with Azerbaijan Airlines' new low-cost subsidiary Buta Airways, based at Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
Buta Airways took to the air on its first commercial flight on September 1, 2017, offering flights from Baku to Moscow, Kiev, Antalya, Kazan, Mineralnye Vody, Tbilisi and Tehran.
In its summer 2018 schedule Buta Airways operates flights to 12 destinations in Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Bulgaria and Georgia.
In the fleet are now seven Embraer aircraft - six E190 and one E170 that is also to be replaced by E190.
Two more E190 aircraft will be placed with carrier before mid-2019.
