Aug 03, 2018 (newstodate): Circulating for some months, information about the opening of a new route to Copenhagen by a Chinese carrier has now been confirmed.
New on the runway as Copenhagen Airport from December 10, 2018, will be Sichuan Airlines with a route between Chengdu and Copenhagen served twice weekly with Airbus A330-200 or Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Sichuan Airlines will thus be the second Chinese carrier to launch flights to Copenhagen Airport after Air China that started operations from Beijing on May 30, 2018, with four weekly rotations using Airbus A330-200 aircraft, while the Hong Kong-based carrier Cathay Pacific is also online at Copenhagen Airport since May 1, 2018, with three weekly rotations.
Copenhagen Airport will be Sichuan Airlines' third European destination after the opening of flights on February 25, 2016, on the route between Chengdu in China and Prague Airport with two weekly rotations served with Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
The carrier has now decided to utilize its 5th freedom rights to extend its service at Prague Airport, in the Czech Republic, with flights between Prague and Zurich, in Switzerland, on two weekly rotations starting from June 23, 2018, and thus going up to three European destinations in 2018.
