Aug 09, 2018 (newstodate): Avinor has released news on the launch of a new freighter service from Oslo Airport: Ethiopian Cargo.
Starting from September, the carrier will be offering flights from Oslo to Guangzhou, in China, finally fulfilling the Norwegian seafood exporters' quest for a direct freighter service to China.
The carrier will be operating the service with a Boeing777-200F flying from Addis Abeba to Lagos, in Nigeria, to Oslo, and continuing to Guangzhou via a stop at Liege to load other European shipments for China.
The service will be operated one to two times weekly from the start, but details, including the final start-up date, will be presented at a forthcoming seminar for stakeholders in Norway's seafood industry by the end of this month.
The new freighter service comes in addition to Ethiopian Airline's flights to Oslo since March 27, 2017, currently offering five weekly rotations between Addis Ababa and Oslo with Boeing 787-8 aircraft, providing the first direct air link from Oslo to Africa via Stockholm that has been served since October 28, 2003.
