Aug 20, 2018 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic reports a record-high volumes of passengers transported in July 2018.
A total of 452,646 passenger flew with the carrier on a total of 5,266 flights which was an increase by 15 and 10 percent, respectively.
But while passenger volume growth thus overtook the flight volume, load factors were, however down from 88 to 86 percent.
airBaltic thus lifted significantly more empty seats in July 2018 as a result of the larger aircraft now introduced in the form of Airbus A220-300 aircraft, compared to the older and smaller Boeing 737 aircraft.
By the end of July 2017, airBaltic had eight Bombardier CS300, now named Airbus A220-300, in the fleet, while this number had grown to 10 by the end of July 2018.
