Jul 30, 2018 (newstodate): Norway's export of fresh salmon to China continues to build up in 2018 as shown by the latest statistics.
From the start of the year till July 22, 2018, Norway exported a total of 6,947 tonnes of fresh salmon to China, almost eight times the volumes during the same period in 2017.
Another 8,817 tonnes of Norwegian salmon were exported to Hong Kong, up 55 percent, y-o-y, and 4,575 tonnes were sent to Taiwan where volumes were however down eight percent, y-o-y.
Salmon export volumes to Japan are still above the China-level, but were down by eight percent during the period, to 8,119 tonnes.
In 2017, the total volume of Norwegian fresh salmon to China landed at 3,984 tonnes as the Chinese embargo was still in place.
