Jul 31, 2018 (newstodate): The Estonian carrier Nordica has surprisingly announced the resignation of its Chairman of the Board from the start in October 2015, Jan Tamm.
The company will now be led by Hannes Saarpuu, member of the Supervisory Board, as an interim solution pending the completion of a tender process, now lifting off, to find Mr Tamm's successor.
The Estonian press has highlighted that rifts between Nordica and LOT have developed over Nordica's and specifically the Nordica/LOT JV Regional Jet's future strategies, with speculations boosted by the presence of LOT's CEO, Rafal Milczarski, at a Nordica meeting at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications in the preceding week.
Nordica's statement on Mr Tamm's resignation does not, of course, offer much insight into the situation.
-Launching any business is difficult, but Jaan and his team have managed to establish a viable and competitive airline and meet all of the goals they set themselves. At the same time, I understand and accept the decision he has made, Peeter Tohver, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Nordic Aviation Group AS, says in the release.
Nordica was set up in the aftermath of Estonian Air's demise in September 2015, with flights operated by various capacity providers, and in November 2016, LOT acquired 49 percent of the stake in Regional Jet, a Nordica subsidiary and capacity provider to Nordica with own AOC.
Under the new strategic partnership, Nordica also moved its commercial platform unto LOT Polish Airlines from November 18, 2016.
