Jul 05, 2018 (newstodate): Wizz Air has opened its first own aircraft maintenance center in the Balkan region.
The carrier has taken over a new dedicated hangar on the premises of the Bulgarian carrier Rose Air, to provide line-maintenance for the airline.
With the new facility comprising sheet metal and composite repair shops comes also the option for an additional bay, increasing the local maintenance capability for the Airbus A320 aircraft family.
The new maintenance center, the carrier's fourth in Europe, at Sofia Airport will have the capacity to carry out more than 300 line maintenance processes per year.
Wizz Air started its operations in Bulgaria with the first flight into Sofia Airport on September 18, 2005, and now has eight aircraft based in Bulgaria including seven in Sofia and one in Varna.
