Jul 04, 2018 (newstodate): The Estonian carrier Nordica has outsourced its cargo capacity as an alternative to building up an own cargo organization.
-With effect from June 1, 2018, Nordica has contracted Leisure Cargo to manage marketing and sales of our cargo capacity, says Sven Kukemelk, Nordica Exec Director Business Development.
-We operate a fleet of 18 regional aircraft with limited capacity under some 500 kg per flight. Cargo is not our prime consideration, but it still has the potential to generate incremental revenues.
-To set up an own cargo department including IT systems on this small scale would not be profitable, so outsourcing has instead been decided.
-Even if our cargo capacity on the flights is very limited, it still attracts urgent shipments of spares, documents or other special high-yield cargo that adds value to the operation. And we have actually already had several inquiries from the market, says Mr Kukemelk.
