Jun 01, 2018 (newstodate): The Swedish/British carrier West Atlantic is now close to putting its first new converted Boeing 737-800SF into commercial service on European routes.
Launch customer for the Boeing 737-800 Converted Freighter, the carrier thus plans to start operations with the new aircraft for an undisclosed integrator by early July 2018, with the remaining three aircraft to go straight into traffic as they are delivered from GECAS/Boeing during Q3, Q4 2018 and Q1 2019, respectively.
Leased on a contract with GECAS, the four will be equipped with CFM56-7B engines, and will carry up to 23.9 tonnes of cargo with 12 main deck positions over 2,000 nautical miles.
West Atlantic is already serving TNT with allocation of Boeing 767 freighter aircraft on a contract with TNT at Liege for intra-European operations.
