Jun 19, 2018 (newstodate): Electrically-driven air passenger transportation is high on the agenda in two Nordic countries - Norway and Finland.
Norway took a lead in performing the first flight with a Pipistrel Alpha Electro aircraft, manufactured in Slovenia, on June 18, 2018 at Oslo Airport as a first step by Avinor to develop electrically-driven air traffic in the country's domestic network comprising a number of small landing strips and local airports.
In Finland, the second electric aircraft in the Nordic region- also a Pipistrel Alpha Electro aircraft - arrived on June 17, 2018, and is now being readied for first flight on July 1, 2018.
The two-seater Pipistrel Alpha Electro electric aircraft has been developed specifically for training purposes.
Battery power is sufficient to take about an hour, with a half-hour backup time.
