Jun 14, 2018 (newstodate): Little is heard from the new charter carrier, registered in Poland: Ryanair Sun.
The stand-alone carrier was registered as a company on July 13, 2017, as a Polish operator, headquartered at Warsaw, with bases at Katowice, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw.
The charter carrier offering capacity to tour operators performed its first commercial flight on April 26, 2018, on the route between Poznan and Zakynthos.
Ryanair Sun will initially have a fleet of five Boeing 737-800 aircraft including two based in Warsaw, and one each in Katowice, Poznan and Wroclaw, and ambitions are to grow the fleet on the charter carrier's own AOC to 15 aircraft in 2019 and to 25 in 2020.
Ryanair Sun will be competing against the existing charter carriers in the Polish market including Small Planet Airlines Poland that operates 10 aircraft on a Polish AOC offering flights out of a number of Polish airports for Polish tour operators.
