Jun 19, 2018 (newstodate): Undeterred by the sustained lack of global recognition of Russia's annexation of the former Ukrainian territory, Crimea's Simferopol Airport is seeing brisk traffic increases under its new Russian identity.
The Russian carrier Nordwind is the leader in provision of flights at the airport, with routes to 27 destinations in Russia, offering flights to Khabarovsk in Russia's Far East as the latest addition from June 9, 2018.
The airport is today capable of handling 3,650 passengers per hour, or 6.5 mio passengers annually, after the opening of a new passenger terminal this spring.
Rosaviatsia has allocated a large budget for seven carriers to take part in a government-subsidized program on flights to Simferopol, Crimea.
