Jun 18, 2018 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic has now taken delivery of its ninth Bombardier CS300 aircraft.
The aircraft landed in Riga Airport on June 7, 2018, as yet one step towards the target of having 14 CS300 aircraft in the fleet by the end of this year.
The aircraft started on its flight test program with the first lift-off on May 19, 2018.
Plans are to have 20 CS300 aircraft operating by the end of 2019, which will complete the original order - which still hinges on an increase in output by Bombardier that has been struggling with sustained problems with the Pratt & Whitney PW1200G turbofan engines that are running behind delivery schedule.
On May 28, 2018, airBaltic announced a firm purchase agreement for the sale and purchase of 30 Bombardier CS300 aircraft, with options for an additional 30 aircraft of the same type.
In the first five months of 2018, airBaltic transported a total of 1,452,017 passengers, up 22 percent, y-o-y, and one-fourth of these are now flying on routes served by the carrier's CS300 aircraft.
