Jun 20, 2018 (newstodate): The new Ukrainian carrier SkyUp, now with its AOC since May 16, 2018, and its first two Boeing 737-800 aircraft in the fleet, is planning for more aircraft already before the end of 2018.
Plans are to bring the fleet to at least five aircraft before year-end, but it hinges on the scarce availability of aircraft in the market.
Even adding to this, the airline is also in the market for dry-lease of aircraft to be able to meet demands for uplift in the charter market.
Expectations are that a third Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be delivered already in July 2018.
The carrier has also taken delivery of one Airbus A330-200 on a lease contract with the Egyptian airline Air Leisure to operate charter flights from Kharkov in Ukraine to leisure destinations including Sharm el-sheikh for tour operator JoinUp that shares owner with SkyUp.
Managed by Evgeny Haynatsky, the airline is fully owned by Ukrainian capital, with 50 percent of the stake held by the two owners behind the country's leading tour operator JoinUp, Tatiana and Yuri Alba.
