Jun 29, 2018 (newstodate): Georgia's new privately-owned carrier MyWay Airlines has presented its initial route network.
The carrier performed its first regular flight on June 12, 2018, from Tbilisi to Kharkov, in Ukraine, adding flights from Batumi to Kharkov, and from Tbilisi to Tehran on June 15.
From June 20, MyWay Airlines has added regular flights from Tbilisi to Samara in Russia and from Batumi to Tehran, and flights from Tbilisi to Moscow and St Petersburg are also coming up soon.
But the carrier is also aiming at flights into new European destinations.
-Our primary EU destinations now under consideration are Dusseldorf, Munich, Milan and Paris, says Gregory Pomerantsev, MyWay Airlines Deputy Commercial Director - who will be known also from his earlier position with airBaltic.
-By comparison, the air traffic volumes between Georgia and Scandinavia does not seem that strong, while the Georgia-Baltic market is dominated by Wizzair and airBaltic.
-This means that means that these routes would probably be too tough to tackle for a start-up airline during its first year of operations.
-We will however review and analyze the potentials for Nordic/Baltic routes again next year - Year 2 of Myway Airlines operations, says Mr Pomerantsev.
On June 22, 2018, MyWay Airlines obtained its TCO, third country operator license by the European Aviation Safety Agency EASA.
With this latest achievement, MyWay Airlines has rights to fly to 28 European countries that are members of the EASA, as well as four countries that are members of the European Free Trade Association - Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein.
In the fleet now are two ex-Shandong Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft delivered in October and November 2017, respectively, a third aircraft will be delivered in July 2018, and a fourth will be added in December 2018.
