Jun 28, 2018 (newstodate): Re-surfacing after three years of ISIL occupation of the region, the Iraqi carrier FlyErbil has announced the start of service on new routes to Europe.
Already from June 18, 2018, the carrier launched a weekly flight from Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan to Stockholm Arlanda via Kiev Zhulyany Airport to bypass the ban on direct flights between Sweden and Iraq, imposed by the Swedish government.
From June 23, 2018, the carrier is also online with bi-weekly flights between Erbil and Sweden's Gothenburg Airport also routed via Kiev.
Also routed via Kiev Zhulyany Airport will be another route to Sweden, starting from July 3, 2018, between Baghdad and Stockholm Arlanda.
Operating two Boeing 737 aircraft leased from the Ukrainian carrier Bravo Airways and planning to grow to 10 units, FlyErbil is also opening routes to Birmingham and Nuremberg in July.
FlyErbil was established in 2015, licensed to carry out local and international flights, and scheduled flights were started in the same year but operations were then abrogated for three years due to the ISIL occupation.
