Jun 27, 2018 (newstodate): On January 8, 2018, Finnair Cargo launched business at its new COOL cargo terminal at Helsinki Airport - and as might be expected, the start of new facilities, systems and procedures has not been a walk in the park.
Still, the latest update on the performance of the COOL terminal sounds encouraging.
-Since narrow-body restrictions were lifted in mid-February, we have been running full operations in the COOL terminal for four months now, says Milla Nyholm, Finnair Cargo Marketing Manager.
-We prepared well for the launch, but even so there has still been a lot of learning during the past couple of months as we are pushing forward new technologies and ways of working in the digital era, many of which are new to the air cargo industry.
-To ensure we can cater for growing cargo volumes in a high quality manner we have introduced some changes to our processes to optimize cargo handling, both inside the terminal and on the tarmac side.
-We have also introduced new performance-monitoring tools and based on that made changes to both processes and the shift structure of our staff working in COOL.
-Naturally, system development is also continuously on the agenda to ensure we are able to make the most of COOLs potential for a great customer experience, says Ms Nyholm.
