Jun 18, 2018 (newstodate): Not quite surprisingly, Airbus is now also facing the prospects of having to abrogate its deal with Iranian airlines for aircraft deliveries.
Due to the re-enforcement of US sanctions against Iran, Airbus will have to step back from the massive order placed by Iranian carriers in 2016 as the aircraft contain large proportions of US systems and components that fall under the US sanctions.
The total orders comprise 118 Airbus aircraft and 20 ATR aircraft, and so far only three Airbus aircraft have been delivered.
In April 2017, Iran Air signed contracts with Boeing for a total of 80 aircraft including 50 Boeing 737Max, 15 Boeing 777-300ER and 15 Boeing 777-9 aircraft, and another 60 aircraft to Aseman Airlines comprising 30 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft with deliveries to start from 2022 and options for a further 30 aircraft.
Boeing has now declared that it has not delivered any of these aircraft, and will not proceed with the contract.
