May 03, 2018 (newstodate): Tajikistan is preparing to start phase 2 of the ongoing plan for projects at Dushanbe International Airport.
The project is based on cooperation between Tajikistan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency that will finance the works through a four mio UDS loan.
The project comprises the construction of a new cargo facility at Dushanbe Airport, with the first phase, now close to completion, comprising the physical buildings, while the second phase, about to start now, will comprise the installation of the pertinent equipment for the cargo terminal and increase the airport's capacity to handling of aircraft of all types by purchase and installation of ILS and PALS navigation systems, as well as purchase of equipment for baggage and air cargo processing from providers in Norway, Germany, Belgium and Japan.
The launch of operations at the new cargo terminal is slated for June 2018.
