May 09, 2018 (newstodate): The management contract between the Icelandair Group's Loftleidir and Cabo Verde Airlines is due to expire in August 2018, and so far no extension has been announced.
In August 2017 Loftleidir Icelandic, TACV Cabo Verde Airlines and the Government of Cabo Verde entered into a management agreement on the restructuring of the loss-making TACV Cabo Verde Airlines and position it as a key strategic asset to contribute to Cabo Verde's potential as a year-round tourist destination, and to develop Cabo Verdes position as a connecting hub with a CAT 1 airport linking four continents.
Cabo Verde Airlines is soon to re-brand and plans to launch flights on a new route to Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, and connections to Milan, Paris and Lisbon.
The carrier also aims to strengthen routes to Recife and Fortaleza.
Cabo Verde Airlines is currently operating two Boeing 757-200 aircraft on a wet-lease contract with Icelandair that may also provide additional aircraft to Cabo Verde Airlines under new dry-lease contracts.
