May 08, 2018 (newstodate): According to the Japanese media NHK, concrete first steps are now taken towards normalization of commercial air traffic between North Korea and the world.
Two ICAO representatives are now in Pyongyang to assess the operational conditions for opening flights on a route connecting Sunan International Airport serving the North Korean capital Pyongyang, and Seoul Incheon International Airport in South Korea.
The route opening has been proposed by North Korea in February 2018 after the admission into North Korea of an Airbus A321-200 of Asiana Airlines that lifted South Korean skiers to a training session in North Korea, before flying back carrying the skiers and the North Korean Olympic delegation.
