May 25, 2018 (newstodate): The Faroe Islands' Vagar Airport has now put a name on its new CEO from May 1, 2018: Gudny Langgaard
Selected as the winning candidate among 68 applicants, Ms Langgaard thus takes over the seat left vacant after Jakup Sverri Kass who stepped down in November 2017 from the position held since April 2012.
Ms Langgaard has no previous background in the airport or aviation industry, bringing in instead rich experience from various management positions within the investment, consultancy and telecom industries.
The new Vagar Airport CEO takes over at a time when the airport has been in strong growth, especially since SAS entered the market from March 27, 2017, offering 12 weekly rogations with Airbus A320 between Copenhagen Airport and Vagar Airport, thus doubling the volume of air traffic on the trunk line after decades with Atlantic Airways as sole provider of air services between the Faroe Islands and Denmark.
With the new appointment, both Vagar Airport and Atlantic Airways, the national carrier, are now under female management.
