May 02, 2018 (newstodate): The Chinese LCC Urumqi Air is now applying for rights to open new international flights.
The carrier has applied with CAAC for rights to launch flights on its first international routes from Urumqi to Dushanbe, Tajikistan, by June 2018, to Irkutsk and Yekaterinburg by July 2018, and to Novosibirsk by August 2018 - all routes to be served twice weekly, if permissions are granted.
In the fleet of the carrier are now 12 Boeing 737-800 and one Embraer 190 aircraft.
Re-launched as a purely low-cost carrier from mid-July 2017, Urumqi Air is one of the four founding airline members of the U-Fly Alliance - the world's first alliance of low-cost carriers established in January 2016 by HK Express, Lucky Air, Urumqi Air, and West Air.
