May 15, 2018 (newstodate): The new Albanian carrier under formation, Air Albania, is preparing for launch of commercial services by the end of June 2018.
The carrier plans to start out with flights from Tirana to Rome, Istanbul and London, later adding also flights to Brussels, Athens, Milan, Munich and Barcelona.
On the even more ambitious side, Air Albania is also venting hopes for start of services from Albania to New York before the end of 2018.
The European network will be operated with a fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft, while the long-haul visions rest on the introduction of Airbus A330 aircraft.
Supporting the launch of the new Albanian carrier is Turkish capital, and Air Albania will work closely with Turkish Airlines.
Albania has been without a flag carrier since 2011 when the country's Civil Aviation Authority revoked the license of Albanian Airlines.
