Apr 04, 2018 (newstodate): The Norwegian carrier Wideroe has now taken over its - and the world's - first Embraer E190-E2 aircraft.
The aircraft became Wideroe's property after the delivery flight on April 3, 2018, and the carrier expects to perform the first commercial flight with the new aircraft on April 24, 2018, on the route between Bergen and Tromso.
This marks also the carrier's entry into the jet age as the fleet now comprises only turboprop aircraft including 41 Dash-8 aircraft of various types.
So far, the carrier has placed firm orders for three Embraer E190-E2, and has purchase rights for another 12 aircraft.
Wideroe has signed a wet-lease agreement with Finnair that will utilize two of the aircraft on new routes from Helsinki to Bergen and Tromso from May 2017.
When all three aircraft have been delivered, two will be based in Bergen and one at Oslo Torp Airport.
