Apr 17, 2018 (newstodate): The new Boeing 737-800BCF converted freighter has now been certified by FAA and EASA, opening the skies for the freighter.
Launch customer for the new Boeing 737-800 Converted Freighter is the UK/Swedish cargo ACMI carrier West Atlantic that will be operating the four aircraft ordered on a contract with "an express logistic provider in its current EU-network".
The four freighters will be leased from GECAS that has ordered an initial batch of 30 aircraft, and the first aircraft for West Atlantic is due for delivery after conversion at Boeing's modification facility in Shanghai in Q2, 2018, with the last to be delivered in Q1, 2019.
Equipped with a large cargo door, the Boeing 737-800 Converted Freighter carry up to 23.9 tonnes of cargo with 12 main deck positions over 2,000 nautical miles.
