Apr 20, 2018 (newstodate): With the first operation yesterday, April 19, 2018, Turkish Cargo is now online with a freighter service at Lithuania's Vilnius Airport.
The carrier launched services to the Baltic region from July 1, 2017, with two weekly Airbus A330-200F flights at Latvia's Riga Airport, coming in from Prague and returning to Istanbul after the call at Riga.
Originally, the operation was planned to be allocated to Vilnius, in Lithuania, but a runway reconstruction project closed Vilnius Airport for a period during summer 2017 - and the launch of the service was instead moved to Latvia in what is now seen as a temporary measure.
Riga Airport had hoped to retain at least one of the two Turkish Cargo rotations - but that was not to be..
