Apr 18, 2018 (newstodate): Swedavia's Stockholm Arlanda Airport is upbeat about the coming start of flights on a new route to Shanghai.
China Eastern Airlines will launch services on the route between Shanghai and Stockholm with the first flight on June 16, 2018, offering four weekly rotations on the route with Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Besides serving the passenger market, the new flights will bring in additional cargo capacity to the Swedish export market.
Shanghai is actually the top destination on the list of Swedish export destinations, with 9,448 tonnes in 2017, an increase by 11.6 percent, y-o-y.
Shanghai thus reigns supreme on the list with a comfortable distance to #2 on the list, Beijing with 5,313 tonnes and #3, Tokyo with 5,073 tonnes in 2017.
The new service will be the first to connect Stockholm and Shanghai with direct flights while SAS is already offering daily flights on the route between Copenhagen and Shanghai since March 1, 2012.
