Apr 23, 2018 (newstodate): Ryanair is planning for launch of 15 routes from its new base in Kiev. Ukraine, from the start of the winter 2018/19 schedule.
Among the routes from Kiev, flights to Stockholm Skavsta from October 31, 2018, is however the only Scandinavian destination, while flights to Vilnius from November 2, 2018, will be the only Baltic route from the start.
Ryanair's plans for Ukraine have indeed come a long way, first appearing already 10 years ago.
And in 2012, Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure was meeting with Ryanair aiming at attracting the carrier to launch flights into the Ukrainian market, specifically singling out flights on routes from Lviv and Donetsk to London, Paris and Barcelona.
Ryanair was last expected to enter the Ukrainian market from March 2017, with flights on four routes from Kiev and seven routes from Lviv.
These plans were, however stalled pending solution of outstanding issues with Ukraine over airport charges - but these issues have now been solved.
