Apr 04, 2018 (newstodate): Starting from March 1, 2018, Aviator Finland and ASR Cargo Center have been offering airline customers joint on-airport cargo handling at Helsinki.
And the new on-airport ASR Cargo Center has come off to a good start, according to its managing director, Jaakko Mikkonen.
-We are now handling all our cargo at the airport terminal after closing down our off-airport premises operated since March 2014, and are thus fully experienced at Helsinki Airport right from the start.
-Our current customer base comprises off-line carriers Cathay Pacific, Etihad, Thai Cargo and Air Canada providing a sound mass for building up new customer relations as our brand name gains acceptance among carriers and other parties in the cargo community.
-Actually we have already, during our first month of operations at Helsinki Airport, landed a fresh contract with one on-line charter carrier as well as with one logistics company, Leman, with one more GSA contract in the process of negotiations.
-So all in all, we are quite satisfied about our prospects while expecting the process for landing new customers will require some months. Naturally, airlines and other potential customers still want to monitor our progress and performance before signing up with us, says Mr Mikkonen.
With a total area of 3,000 sq m, ASR Cargo Center comprises a temperature-controlled area for handling of perishables, cooling and freezer facilities, special areas for VAL and DGR, X-ray scanning and other pertinent services.
