Apr 05, 2018 (newstodate): Iceland's cargo carrier Bluebird Nordic, earlier trading under the name Bluebird Cargo, is cautiously increasing its aircraft fleet in 2018.
In the fleet are now four Boeing 737-300 and four Boeing 737-400 freighter aircraft, and one more Boeing 737-400 freighter will be added in the coming week.
On the other hand, Bluebird Nordic is to phase out one of the existing Boeing 737-300 freighters, to be redelivered to its leasing company owner.
With HQs at Keflavik Airport, Iceland, Bluebird Nordic provides ACMI freighter services for integrators and ad-hoc freighter wet-lease services throughout Europe, Asia and North America.
But plans are also on the table for entering the passenger aircraft ACMI market.
Speaking to newstodate in January 2018, Bluebird Nordic Chairman of the Board Steinn Logi Bjornsson said that the entry into the passenger ACMI market would probably not happen before the end of this year, with a definite decision yet pending.
The aircraft type for passenger ACMI services would then be the Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
