Apr 20, 2018 (newstodate): Estonia is determined to seek a role as a hub for e-logistics.
These days, a strong delegation comprising Estonian ministerial representatives and industrial partners are visiting China to discuss with their Chinese counterparts including China's Ministry of Commerce the action plan for the coming six months under an agreement on cooperation in e-commerce landed with China in November 2017.
Taking part in discussions are thus Omniva, Tallinn Airport, EVR Cargo, Boomerang Distribution, GTS Express, Lexit Technologies from Estonia, as well as Alibaba, JD Group, Huawei, SF Express, and China International E-Commerce Co. Ltd.
Already in September 2015, the Estonian state-owned postal company Omniva signed a LoI with SF Express to bring Chinese e-commerce goods into Tallinn Airport for onward distribution, and the LoI later resulted in the formation of Post11 - the joint company between Post Estonia's Omniva and the Chinese partner S.F. Express.
In March 2018, the Estonian regional ACMI, wet lease, full charter and ad-hoc services provider Airest revealed plans for launching a leased Boeing 747 freighter to provide cargo flights between China and Estonia with imports driven by e-commerce shipments from China for onward distribution via Tallinn Airport.
