Apr 16, 2018 (newstodate): The Danish carrier Danish Air Transport, DAT, has won a PSO tender for flights on routes in Italy' southernmost region.
Under the contract, DAT will be operating flights between the islands of Pantelleria and Lampedusa, close to Libya, and airports in Sicily - Trapani, Palermo and Catania.
The PSO program starts from July 1, 2018, till June 30, 2021, and will be operated with ATR aircraft.
Thus two ATR-72 aircraft from DAT's Lithuanian subsidiary DOT will be allocated to the Italian flights on a year-round basis, supported by one ATR-72 from DAT during summer peak seasons.
Given the long-term contract obligations, DAT is expected to set up an Italian subsidiary to handling of commercial issues, but with an own AOC..
