Apr 05, 2018 (newstodate): Chinese capital is again flowing into European aviation - now heading for Bulgaria's Plovdiv Airport.
After a tender process, the Bulgarian Transport Ministry has picked the Chinese HNA Group as the winner of a 35-year concession agreement to manage Plovdiv Airport.
After a final approval by the Bulgarian parliament, the deal is expected to be sealed by mid-year 2018.
When the agreement is firmed up, Plovdiv Airport will become the HNA Group's second European airport, after the earlier acquisition of the German Frankfurt Hahn Airport.
HNA Airport Group plans to gradually build Plovdiv airport into a cargo distribution and regional tourist hub for central and eastern Europe.
