Apr 25, 2018 (newstodate): The new Ukrainian carrier SkyUP has been forced to postpone its planned launch of services in April 2018.
The reasons are two-fold: the carrier has not yet been granted its AOC, and the delivery of its aircraft has been delayed by unpredicted longer maintenance works.
Instead of starting services before the end of April, the first flights are now being planned for early May pending the solution to the two issues.
SkyUp has already registered two Boeing 737-800 aircraft and expects to expand to four aircraft by the end of 2018, to six in 2019, to eight in 2020, to 10 in 2021, and to 12 aircraft in 2022.
Based in Kiev, the carrier start out with flights from Kiev, Kharkiv, Lviv and Odessa to 16 leisure destinations.
By the end of May or early June 2017, the carrier will add scheduled domestic flights in Ukraine between Kiev and Odessa and Kharkiv-Odessa while scheduled international flights will follow from later in 2018 between Kiev and Barcelona, Dubai and Larnaca.
