Mar 14, 2018 (newstodate): Turkish Airlines has got a firm grasp on the traffic between the Baltic markets and Turkey.
The carrier is thus increasing frequency on its routes to Riga in Latvia, Tallinn in Estonia and Vilnius in Lithuania, going up to daily flights starting from March 25, 2018.
-We are growing in all Baltic markets, increasing services to daily flights to Riga,Vilnius and Tallinn. And what is more, we will not decrease capacity and continue daily as well during the winter schedule, says Harun Kose, Turkish Airlines Director Latvia.
-If we compare 2017 to 2018 for Riga, we have a capacity increase over 20 percent. And even with this capacity increase our load factors are better than last year.
-The Baltics are very important for our network and we plan to increase our capacity further in the future, depending on our fleet and demand from the market.
- We are also growing in the cargo market. The TK freighter service to Riga was launched on July 1, 2017. At the moment we have two scheduled freighters from Riga, and as we increase frequency on the passenger flights our belly cargo capacity is set to increase as well, says Mr Kose.
Turkish Airlines started operating to Estonia and Lithuania on June 11, 2013, when the carrier launched flights on a triangular route Istanbul-Vilnius-Tallinn-Istanbul.
Later, from October 26, 2014, Turkish Airlines split the triangular service, offering instead direct flights between Istanbul and Tallinn as well between Istanbul and Vilnius.
Riga in Latvia has been served directly from Istanbul since April 19, 2006.
