Mar 12, 2018 (newstodate): Serbia will see no less than three Iranian carriers calling at its capital airport at Belgrade in summer 2018.
First to enter the route between Tehran and Belgrade is Iran Air with the first flight on March 10, 2018, now offering two weekly rotations with Airbus A320 aircraft.
This marks the first direct nonstop scheduled service between the two countries since 1991 when the former Yugoslav carrier JAT was operating the route for a brief period that ended abruptly with the wars in the Balkan region.
Already on March 19, 2018, a second Iranian carrier will enter services on the same route as Qeshm Air starts with two weekly Airbus A320 rotations between Tehran and Belgrade.
Rounding off the Iranian offerings, Mahan Air will enter the competition on the route with two weekly rotations from April 6, 2018, operating Airbus A310 aircraft on the route.
The new flight connections benefit from the signing of a new bilateral Air Service Agreement between Iran and Serbia in July 2018, and Serbia's abolishment of visa requirements for Iranians - as the first European country.
