Mar 23, 2018 (newstodate): Norway's export of salmon to the Chinese market continues to grow at a high rate in 2018.
From the start of 2018 till end of week 10 on March 11, Norway sent a total of 3,663 tonnes of salmon to China compared to only 419 tonnes during the same period in 2017.
In week 10 alone, the export volumes to China accrued to 307 tonnes against 45 in 2017.
In the same period, volumes exported to Vietnam, earlier serving as a back door for Norwegian seafood into the Chinese market, dipped from 5,718 tonnes to 2,886 tonnes as exports to China now goes through the front doors of the market.
Needs and market opportunities for a carrier to add freighter capacity from Oslo directly to one or more Chinese destinations are therefore growing with the new market opening in China.
Today, the only direct uplift for Asia out of Oslo Airport is provided by Korean Airlines Cargo since 2003 to Seoul, South Korea, and DHL Freight Forwarding with the first flight on September 8, 2017, to Seoul, continuing to Shanghai.
