Mar 15, 2018 (newstodate): The Norwegian carrier Wideroe is poised to become the world's first operator of the new Embraer 190-E2 commercial aircraft.
The carrier will take delivery its first new aircraft on April 4, 2018, after completion of a test flights program now in force.
Wideroe has placed orders for a total of three E2 aircraft to be delivered over the next two years, and the contract with Embraer also comprises purchase rights for a further 12 E2 family aircraft.
-This flexible mix of purchase rights for E175-E2, E190-E2, and E195-E2 will give Wideroe the ability to grow their fleet with a family of aircraft from 80 to 130+ seats, to right size capacity to meet market requirements, says Embraer.
So far, Wideroe is operating a turboprop fleet of 14 Bombardier Dash-8 aircraft.
The first new aircraft will start commercial service on routes from Bergen to Bodo and Tromso under a wet-lease agreement with Finnair.
