Mar 27, 2018 (newstodate): The new Swedish ACMI carrier under formation, ScanBlu is now amid the process for obtaining an own AOC.
-We will await the granting of our own AOC before commencing flight operations rather than starting out with chartered capacity, says Christian Tadjeran, ScanBlu CEO and Accountable Manager.
-Once the AOC process application process has been completed, hopefully by April 2018, we will sign the leasing contract for one Airbus A319 that is an affordable aircraft for a start.
-This aircraft will be based at Corfu for operating charter flights for our launch customer Ellinair and other European customers. A second Airbus A320 Family aircraft will then be added in summer 2018, probably an Airbus A320 or A321 aircraft that is very much in demand in the charter industry.
-We will thus start out in the ACMI industry that is relatively uncomplicated business. At a later stage we may consider adding also full-charter services as demanded by the market.
-We are currently some 15 staff at the office and expect to build up five cockpit crews per aircraft. The challenge is sourcing pilots, especially captains, as well as suitable aircraft in today's market where both assets are scarce in supply. But we are all drawing on years of experience in the aviation business, with extensive network securing access to the people and aircraft needed, says Mr Tadjeran.
