Mar 15, 2018 (newstodate): International flights have now been allowed to return to the two airports in Iraq's self-governing Kurdish region.
Until March 14, 2018, the airport at Erbil and Sulaimaniyah were closed for international traffic in the aftermath of Iraqi central government reprisals against the Kurdish plebiscite for autonomy on September 25, 2017.
The condition for reopening of the two airports that are crucial to the Kurdish region is, however, that they are now under central government control.
It is unclear at this stage which airlines will resume services to Erbil and Sulaimaniyah - and when.
