Mar 26, 2018 (newstodate): Cargo volumes generated by integrators at Copenhagen Airport increased in 2017.
In 2016, integrators FedEx and DHL handled a total of 60,854 tonnes of cargo at CPH, constituting 18 percent of the airport's total cargo volumes.
In 2017, FedEx and DHL handled 69,037 tonnes of cargo at the airport, an increase by 13 percent, y-o-y.
With 69,037 tonnes, the integrators' proportion of the airport's total volumes in 2017, however, increased by only one percentage-point, to 19 percent, as the airport's total cargo volumes rose by 5.4 percent, y-o-y, to 395,431 tonnes.
In 2017, integrators' cargo on freighter operations increased by nine percent, y-o-y, to 60,929 tonnes, but the largest growth was seen in cargo on road feeder services that grew by 70 percent to 7,954 tonnes.
The significant rise in integrator cargo on trucks is probably due to the opening of the FedEx Express gateway facility at Copenhagen Airport early in 2016 serving as a gateway for inbound and outbound shipments for Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
