Mar 07, 2018 (newstodate): Kalaallit Airport A/S, set up in June 2016 by Greenland's government to materialize plans for a new airport infrastructure in Greenland, now has to put all preparations for new runways at Nuuk and Ilulissat on hold - again.
Greenland is to hold new unplanned elections at a date to be set at a meeting on March 13, 2018 - and until a new government has been formed all proposals and project currently underway based on decisions by the now outgoing government will be suspended, pending reconfirmation by a new government.
According to the decisions in place until this moment, pre-qualified tenderers for construction of runways at Nuuk and Ilulissat airports would receive the tender material in May 2018 with an expected deadline for submitting their bids for the projects separately or in combination in August or September 2018, after which a winner would be selected.
Contracts with construction companies would then be signed in September/October 2018, and runway construction works was slated to start by April 2019.
Now it's all been put on ice...
