Mar 21, 2018 (newstodate): The new Ukrainian low-cost carrier SkyUP Airlines has firmed up its order for new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
SkyUp Airlines will acquire three Boeing 737-800 and two 737 MAX 8 aircraft aiming at future expansion of the airline's network after the initial launch by April 2018 with a fleet comprising three Boeing 737-800 aircraft on lease contracts.
The carrier will be based in Kiev with plans for flights from Kiev, Kharkiv, Lviv and Odessa to 16 leisure destinations.
By the end of May or early June 2017, the carrier will add scheduled domestic flights in Ukraine between Kiev and Odessa and Kharkiv-Odessa while scheduled international flights will follow from later in 2018 between Kiev and Barcelona, Dubai and Larnaca.
Plans are to grow the fleet to six in 2019, to eight in 2020, and to 10 in 2021.
The airline is fully owned by Ukrainian capital with 50 percent of the stake held by the two owners behind the country's leading tour operator JoinUp, Tatiana and Yuri Alba.
