Mar 14, 2018 (newstodate): Optimism and enthusiasm are fundamental elements in any project - most needed with reality strikes.
So it is with implementation of complex structures like new cargo terminals, with Finnair's COOL terminal at Helsinki, opened on January 8, 2018, as no exception..
-Steady progress with implementation during last two months, but work continues. This is a very significant change so it takes a lot of work to get everything well-oiled and data flowing correctly between people and systems, says Ari Soinola, Finnair Director Cargo Excellence.
-Some things have progressed more quickly than anticipated, but other issues have caused more headaches because of the fundamental nature of this change from the old terminal and procedures.
-Customers recognize that a change like this wont be without teething problems and they see the big long-term advantages of the technology we are introducing here.
-It has sometimes been challenging to have the resources in the right place when unexpected things arise, but thanks to comprehensive planning and testing with partners Ldige and Accelya we have been able to fix most problems quickly.
-On the positive side, our Cargo Eye is already in regular use in the Cargo Control Center, improving transparency and efficiency, says Mr Soinola.
A truly innovative element in the COOL terminal, the Cargo Eye allows its users to verify the real-time location of the individual Finnair Cargo shipments, live conditions and details on all elements in the logistics including handling and storage requirements.
